My focus here will be on the following:
- Automating Tasks on the Mac
- Tips on Using the Tools I Love and Use Everyday
- Keyboard Maestro
- MS Office 2011, particularly Word and Excel VBA
I love automating stuff. I hate manual repetition. So, I’d rather spend 2 hours writing a script, or a macro, than doing repetitive typing for 30 minutes. And the Mac is a great automation environment for everyone, from someone who has never even seen a line of code to professional programmers. So I have developed a habit of considering automation for any task that I have to do more than 2 or 3 times. That’s just me. I have fun automating/programming, so why not? 🙂
I also love to share with others. It really makes my day to learn that I’ve helped someone automate their workflow. So this all leads to this blog.
My objective in this blog is to share with you what I have found that works. There are tons of web sites, blogs, forums, posts that discuss the various tools for automating a Mac. I will try to be a good filter for you, guiding you to the tools, techniques, and sites I trust and have found to be useful.
Of course, at any point, you can venture off on your own with Google and other search tools. I actually encourage this. But if you feel overwhelmed by the multitude of Google hits, and find it hard to evaluate and understand some of the information, you can always come here for the filtered version, and, of course, ask questions.
